Public Transportation Vehicles in Cebu

Visiting the Philippines, you will see and discover lots of unique things that may impress you and might make you wanna come back here again. If you are a first time traveller or you wish to visit and explore Cebu, you should also be familiar with the vehicles used as a means of transportation of the place. One of the things that Philippines including Cebu is proud of, is their means of transportation. You will see different kinds of vehicles that is used in every corner of the place and here are some of those unique means of transportation.


Jeepney

Jeepney, mostly called Multicab here in Cebu,is a 4-wheeled vehicle used as transportation for destinations that will pass by the highways of the streets in Cebu. You can see a lot of this vehicle going to different routes and destinations. There are certain numbers at the top of this vehicles that you should be familiar because these numbers corresponds the routes and destination of the jeepneys. Anyways the routes and destinations are also written on the signboards at the front of the jeepneys. If you are a traveller and not familiar with the place and asked the people around they will probably just reply to you where to ride and what number of the jeepney you should take. The rates of the fares of jeepney depends on how far your destination is but the minimum fare starts at 8 pesos per 5 kilometers.


Tricycle

Tricycle is a vehicle like motorcycle with three wheels, two wheels at the back and one at the front. This vehicle is used in transporting passengers from one barangay to another but mostly they are not allowed to pass by the highways as it might cause traffic jams. Same as the Jeepney, its minimum fare starts at 8 pesos per 5 kilometers.


Motorcycle

We are all familiar with this kind of vehicle but mostly here in Cebu, this is also used for public transportation. Some people book for motorcycle or we call it “habal-habal” in Cebuano whenever they have an urgent appointment because riding the “habal-habal” can lessen the time of travel and it can easily get out of the traffic. The fare of ‘Habal-habal” depends on how far the destination is, but you can also negotiate the driver for the fare. In fact, there is this popular app named “Angkas”, just like “Grab”, this app lets you book for a motorcycle going to your desired destination in a fixed price.


Pedicab

Pedicab is also known as “Trisikad” in Cebuano is a small pedal-operated vehicle used as transportation in small towns or in a barangay. This vehicle transport passengers just around the barangay or the town since it is not a machine-operated vehicle and the driver should pedal so that the vehicle will work. Just like the tricycle, this vehicle is not allowed to drive on highways to avoid traffic.
